Before we can see you for your first appointment, you'll need to complete a set of intake paperwork and clinical questionnaires through our client portal. This step matters — it gives your provider real context on you before you ever sit down together, so that first conversation can go deeper instead of starting from zero.
Initial Assessment (60 minutes)
Your first visit is a full diagnostic conversation, not a quick screening. Your provider will take the time to understand what's brought you in and build a complete picture of your background, including:
Your mental health history, including any medical history, treatment, or hospitalizations.
Relevant social history — work, relationships, living situation, and day-to-day stressors.
Family history, since certain conditions and responses to treatment can run in families.
Personal history and anything else that's shaping how you're feeling right now.
If it's clinically appropriate, your provider may order lab work to rule out a physical cause for your symptoms — some medical conditions can look a lot like a mental health concern, so this step helps make sure your treatment plan is actually built on the right diagnosis.
Once your provider has a clear clinical picture, they'll walk you through their impressions and lay out the realistic treatment options in front of you — medication, therapy referral, lifestyle changes, or a combination. Nothing is decided for you: you (or your guardian, if applicable) choose the path that feels right, with your provider's guidance.
Follow-Up Appointments (20–30 minutes)
Follow-ups are shorter but just as purposeful. Here, your provider checks in on how you're responding to your current plan — are you sticking with it, is it actually working, and does anything need to change. Think of these as tune-ups: small, regular adjustments that keep your care moving in the right direction, rather than waiting months to course-correct.

KindMind offers both in-person and telehealth visits — choose the format that fits each appointment.
In-Person: Visit our office; please arrive a few minutes early.
Telehealth: A secure video link is sent before your session — log in early to test your connection.
You can switch formats visit to visit; just note your preference when booking.

Prescriptions are sent electronically to your pharmacy, not mailed. Refills are set to last until your next follow-up, so a separate request usually isn't needed.
If a refill doesn't reach your pharmacy, submit a request through the client portal. Medication changes are only made during a scheduled visit.

We ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Arrivals more than 10 minutes late may be treated as a cancellation.
